| Description From Source | 2 volumes. Notebook, and sheets (some fragments), between two loose covers. The notebook has “Wishing Mr Phillips every success and a safe return, Ada M. Carter, 22/1/1901” written on its front cover. It contains mainly poems, probably all written by others and copied into the notebook by David Phillips while serving in the Boer War. Also included are some newspaper clippings of the period (some in Dutch), possibly a letter written in Dutch and dated 19 December 1899, and a reference written for David Phillips on September 29, 1902 by Captain E.C. Tatchell, his commanding officer. |
