Description From SourceOriginal ms., printed and photographs. Comprises, diary, letters, ephemera and photographs. Diary written by R. T. Harding, 28 January 1916-4 July 1919, describing voyage to, and experiences in, Egypt, France and Belgium, and voyage home to Victoria. Also, seven letters, 16 February 1919-4 May 1920, and undated, sent beween Harding and his friends in Belgium. Six of the letters are written in French. Ephemera includes a French postcard; demobilisation movement card; calling cards; leave pass; ration books; three paybooks, 1916-1919; an envelope for use by soldiers on active service; a cigarette card depicting a military hospital ward in Holland; and identification tags, one in the shape of the Australian continent. Photographs include aerial views of France; scenes of life on the Western Front; a group portrait of soldiers; and a view of the grave of Gunner W. J. Harding (R. T. Harding’s brother William who was killed in action 6 August 1917).
