| Description From Source | This archive series consists of material relating to the migration of the Schoevers family from the Netherlands to Australia in 1955 on MS JOHAN VAN OLDENBARNEVELT. The family consisted of Abraham (later Alex), his wife Margaretha and their children, Johanna (Joke), Karina, Robert, Marianne, Johan and Leonardus (Hans). Their first destination in Australia was the migrant camp at Bonegilla, Victoria. The series includes planning and preparation documents such as a selected passage agreement, registration application card, subsidy application form, folder of immigration documents and several letters to Abraham Schoeers from the Dutch and Australian migration departments. Also included are documents relating to the voyage on JOHAN VAN OLDENBARNEVELT, such as fact sheets, tickets, receipts and travel insurance policies. |
