Description From SourceCopies of records of German Consulate, Brisbane (Queensland), single number series The original files were in official custody since they were seized from the German Consulate on the outbreak of war in 1914. Australian Archives imposed single numbers on the original files, as no order was decipherable. The files were examined and roughly described in English by Australian authorities in 1920; many files contain a descriptive sheet. Some papers have clearly become separated from their covers and there is no discernible number or subject order in the collection. The original files were returned to the German Foreign Office in February 1995. Photocopies were retained by Australian Archives.
