Description From Source1857-1866; Correspondence. Mainly letters from John Granville Grenfell to his father John Pascoe Grenfell and to his mother (the latter in Portuguese). Also includes letters from Susie Grenfell (wife of J.G. Grenfell) and Alexander Dick to John Pascoe Grenfell. These letters were written from various places in NSW including Sydney, Bathurst, Forbes, Lachlan goldfields, Gulgoa River and Bourke. They discuss such matters as farm management, conditions on the goldfields, political policies affecting the goldfields, bushranging and routine family matters. 1866-1934; Material concerning the murder of John Granville Grenfell by bushrangers. Includes correspondence, newscuttings, booklet entitled ‘Extracts and correspondence relating to the death of John Granville Grenfell Esq.’ with typscript transcript. 1890-1956; Various family papers. Includes correspondence, newscuttings and printed material concerning land settlement and farming. Also includes passports of J.G. Grenfell and bank book and chequebooks of G.A.M. Grenfell.
