Rare map showing route of Ernest Giles’ 1876 (14 April to 23 August) expedition that was financed by Sir Thomas Elder. Detailed hand coloured steel plate engraved map showing the tracks taken by Ernest Giles on his bid to cross from Mount Welcome north to the Ashburton River then across the Petermann Ranges to South Australia. Place names in English, textual notes in German.
