Abstract

Mammas Pates was a Kalymnian who was arrested by the authorities in Australia for illegal immigration. He was among the many immigrants who risked their lives by jumping off a boat in search of better opportunities. The correspondence was between the Department of Immigration and the Kalymnian Brotherhood (President Alexandros Alexiou), who ultimately succeeded in securing legal permission for Mammas Pates to stay in Australia.
