Description From Source11 p. ; 21 cm. 11 p. ; 21 cm. Title translated into English: Wool growers and traders lecture society: Melbourne Japanese Chamber of Commerce, 3 March 1939. Synopsis of content: This work is a published copy of a short handwritten report on the Australian wool industry and aspects of the wool trade with Japan. It was prepared by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Melbourne. It discusses trends in wool yields, types of wool produced, and effects of recent anti-Japanese sentiment due to Japanese military activities in China. It then looks at the differences in the domestic wool market between the northern and southern areas of Australia. The booklet was published on 3 March 1939 and laments the steady growth of wool exports to Japan prior to 1936, and the sudden decline after the introduction of prohibitive tariffs by the Australian Government in 1936, and the corresponding policies of the Japanese later that year.
